journaling reads: That bird of lore. He was so stately standing there on the pier. Never before had I met him; never will I forget him. Standing about two feet tall, his piercing ebony gaze just stared at me through the rain. So quiet. So still. I was mesmerized by this bird whose name Ive known and recited for years, never having actually met him. I watched him for several minutes. Then, with a graceful flourish of feathers, he flew away.
