On January 20, 2021, the US inaugurated our new president. As part of the ceremony, Amanda Gorman recited her poem, “The Hill We Climb.” She was inspired by the turmoil of the insurrection at the Capital two weeks earlier and yet still shared her faith in our country’s ability to heal. I picked out a few lines from the poem that showed both the turmoil and the hope. There are dark clouds on the left horizon but bright sunshine on the right. We can unite if we hold the word “We the People” in our hearts. And as Ms. Gorman says “For there is always light, if only we're brave enough to see it,
If only we're brave enough to be it”
