Journaling:
Ramona loved the beach. She was more than content to play in the sand. She loved filling the bucket and as she shoveled - somehow the shovel made it to her mouth, again and again. The firs time was on purpose. Ramona had no idea how awful it would be, and her surprise and disgust were immediate. I know at least once, she wasnt thinking as the sand shovel made its way to her mouth. The action had become so automatic that she didnt even realize what she was doing. The water. Oh! The water! Once Ramona adjusted to the cold temperature, she couldnt get enough - wading in as far as Mom would allow as everyone commented her bravery. Once she took off running into the waves and Mom had to stop her before she was neck deep. More than once she cried as Mom took her back to shallower water.
