With the Summer Olympics fast approaching a bit of history of women in the Olympics seemed topical..The 1900 games held in Paris saw the first admission of women's competition. 22 women competed in tennis, sailing,golf, equestrianism and croquet. Great Britian's Charlotte Cooper was the first woman to take gold wiith victory in women's singles tennis tournament. In the 2012 Olympics held in London 4,847 women competed.
