Surprise

The feeder has thistle (nyger) seed and currently a mix with something else. House Sparrows devour the seed but the goldfinches get their share and lots is dropped on the ground for feeding there which is what the juncos do. We also have Mourning Doves and squirrels coming, but this Downy Woodpecker actually on the feeder getting seeds was a surprise.

I photographed this bird 2 weeks ago, sadly i don't have them in my garden...

Great use of the mask !

jean- this is wonderful, I love the texture of the paper and the subtle use of yellow is eye-catching!

I enjoy bird-watching too at my feeders and see a lot of the same ones you mentioned. Sadly, I never manage to get good photos of them! Have you tried hanging suet cakes? I have gotten three different varieties of woodpeckers at them.
