As the pages fill up in the baby book, I find I am starting to incorporate musings, becoming a little less literal about day-to-day life, which leads to some interesting juxtapositions. This page, for example, is about maybe someday having the opportunity to take my grandson to Paris, inspired by a photo of him walking to get the mail the other day, sent along by my daughter. I looked at the photo and said to myself, whoa! This kid definitely has a certain charming je ne sais quoi! Maybe it's the tilt of the hat?
This design pulled itself together nicely because I had a clear concept of what I wanted to do from the beginning. I started by positioning my cell-phone extraction on the canvas in the approximate space, then added the wordART—I lifted the placement of pieces from the wordART preview that comes with the set. I then added the backup photos, the large one in a Downtown Fotoblendz, the smaller one in a Camera FotoBlendz. The Beaded Threadz and ribbon came next, to anchor the extraction. As usual, I filled in the background last, using a solid paper from the Trouvaille Artplay Palette supplemented by a few Artsy Transfers. Because the photos reflect two different time periods (2019 and 2024), I wanted some sort of design device to suggest that, and I found that layering the new Paper Texture brushes was perfect for this job. I ended this layout with some whimsy, placing the heart element from the Artplay Palette into my grandson's hands.
