Roly-Poly Santa

Roly-Poly Santa

Journaling reads: Despite the fact that I told myself never to buy large and heavy ornaments, I stopped to take a look at this odd Santa. His pure reds and greens so vibrant and pure, most likely made of paper Mache. Browsing the Christmas Shoppe at Seaport Village, there were so many other ornaments to look at so I held him for a bit trying to talk myself out of buying him, as after all, he was way too large and way too heavy. In the end, I just couldnt leave this roly-poly Santa behind. He is about 5 inches in diameter, and so heavy that he is always placed on a lower branch, toward the center of the tree.

The Process: I began with an Artsy paper from AP Red Suit. I added various ArtsyTransfers, and then added the photo. I placed the photo on blend mode Hard Light, and masked out portions of the photo. I copied the photo and masked all except for the ornament. This photo layer was placed back on the normal blend mode. I applied a shadow to this photo layer. I added the MultiMedia tree, and the frame, and added the little Christmas Tree charm, hooking the string around the frame. I placed the WordArt, and then added the journaling. I then added some brush work from AP Shabby Christmas BrushSet, changing the colors to green, and placed them under the photo layers. I modified their blend modes to allow the textures of the transfers to show through. I then blended in the striped paper from AP Shabby Christmas (changed to green). Once finished with the layout, I realized that I had not placed the year, so I added the year by placing the 1995 in the same color as the frame, and used the embossed effect so that it looked like it was engraved into the bottom of the frame (gotta have the date!)

I love how you used the frame, and that you too spend your time talking yourself out of things. He's very nice. I can talk myself out of everything. I'm glad you didn't and have this treasure.

Awesome blending the framing of the ornament is a perfect. I love heavy ornaments too and those colors are perfect...
