52 Inspirations Challenge - May 2017 at Oscraps

The word for this month's challenge was FORWARD. One thing that I have learned, and am still learning, is that having a chronic illness, you have to persist even when you think that you can't. You also have to realize that sometimes just the simple act of breathing is in fact, moving forward.

I started with an artsy paper and added the word stamp on top and the arrows below that. I wanted the arrows to match the paper so I took one of the paper pieces in Lente and dragged that over them to us it as a clipping mask. I also wanted the word persistence to stand out so I used the marquee tool to select the word and then Layer Via Copy. I added a gradient to the top layer that matched the colors on on the arrows. Finally, I wanted a bit more texture to the white part of the artsy paper but didn't want to cover up the paint. I used a Texture Overlay, set to Lighter Color and erased some of the overlay using a soft grunge brush.
