Journaling
These fish were caught on 12 July 1957 at Lake Victoria. The lake was located about 15 miles SW of Rapid City. It was created when Victoria Creek was dammed in the 1930s. The dam was damaged in the Rapid City flood on 9 June 1972. As a result, the lake was drained and never refilled. The dam was ultimately removed.
In 2004 while talking with Dad and Mom on the phone I said, We went to South Dakota next? Dad. Yes, we were only there about 3 months. Long enough to have a baby? Mom got pregnant with John while we lived in South Dakota. Dad laughed saying, That was all there was to do there except for fishing. Not missing a beat Mom said, I dont remember you fishing.
Sylvan Lake

Sylvan Lake is located 20 miles SW of Rapid City in the Black Hills. It was created in 1881 when Theodore Reder built a dam across Sunday Gulch Creek. Sylvan Lake was featured in the Disney movie National Treasure: Book of Secrets.
