Journaling
On 7 February 1957, Dad received a permanent change of station to Ellsworth Air Force Base outside of Rapid City South Dakota. We had 15 days delay enroute with a reporting date of the 19th of February. I do not know what day we left Travis Air Force Base. Mom and Dad loaded up the family car, a 1951 white Mercury Coupe, placing me in a wicker laundry basket for the ride. I often wonder if my love of baskets stems from that car trip to South Dakota.
