The text reads: David had been hoping for a clear day to drive the Pacific Coast Highway on our California coastal trip, but I was just as happy to have the fog because it made the colors and textures of the wildflowers and grasses jump out in high relief. I enjoyed the sweeping vistas and the ocean but on that particular day I was focusing on life with microscopic eyes. It was a day when life was truly in the detailsOn our way to Marina, 2012.

Notes using Photoshop Elements 14

After editing my photo, I blended it into Artsy Paper # 4 on multiply blending mode, flattened the layers, then moved the flattened image to a new document. I added a few transfers and overlays underneath and over the photo for texture, and painted back some of the water with a light blue on color dodge mode and an artsy brush. I added the gold leaves at the bottom of the photo, to beef up the rocks on the cliff we were standing on with some shine and dimension. Next came the journaling, the text strip at the top, the embellishments, and then I wove in the title. To warm up my composition, I put solid paper No. 2 at the top of the layer stack, switched the blend mode to multiply, then reduced its opacity.
