Mochi

Back story: We use to raise and show guinea pigs, and loved their antics, and animated characters, so when Rachel had the opportunity to get this little rescue hamster, she saw him as a creature that would probably just be a little blob that would do nothing. Getting him has changed her mind a great deal and she has come to realize that hamsters can be quite the characters. Mochi is inquisitive, adventurous, and totally fearless, and always up for something new, but she has also learned to never cross him, as he will let you know of his dissatisfaction. She is in love.

Journaling reads: Mochi is a Japanese rice cake made of mochigome, a short-grain japonica glutinous rice, usually formed into a round ball, so when Rachel got her little rescue hamster, she thought he looked quite a bit like mochi, so it was easy to give him that name. The funny thing is that he often will sit on his little bottom in such a way that he forms a little round fuzz ball - fitting his name perfectly. Although I am not at all familiar with any of the Japanese characters, Rachel is learning Japanese, so the Japanese characters for mochi in both hiragana and kanji are included on the page as well.

Process notes: I began with an artsy paper from APP Aspera. I then placed the photo of the little hamster, using inverted masking. I then began adding portions of the ArtsyTransfers from both Aspera, and Wish, modifying some colors and blend modes. In addition, I added transfers from APP Aspera and APP Radiant. I found the Japanese characters for the word Mochi online, and cut and paste them in, and then blended them onto the page. I added the 3 little sunflower seeds from APP Jardinier, and the MM Stars, placing them at the same angle as the artstrokes. I tend added the grid ruled lines, placing them on a diagonal, and added the large title, duplicating it, and offsetting one copy, and changed the color. I added the UrbanStitched Heart under the title, and finished up by adding the journaling.
