Journaling reads: Cricket is not at the all the cuddly dog we thought she would be, she seems to have a job in mind and that is to take care of her family. She is always aware of where we are, and is most comfortable when we are all home. If one of us is out, she watches and listens until we do come home. She guards the home and has shown us that she will attack if necessary. She is extremely submissive with us, allowing us to take anything from her, without question, or complaint. However, everything is done on her terms she will not come when called unless she wants to. She wants her own private space, and will move if we get too close when she doesnt want attention. She is secure with her place in the family, and therefore never jealous of other dogs needing more attention than her. She does have a way to keep other dogs in their place, but is never bossy. These traits have earned her the name of Miss Independent.

The Process: This was an easy page. I began with the 12 x 12 ArtsyKard from Lush, then placed the photo. The photo is in three layers, a layer of just linework, using the command filter/find edges, and then changing the result to black and white, masked out the areas I did not want shown. The next layer was the photo where I masked out all except for the dog. The third, and very bottom photo layer was just a portion of the photograph shown by masking all out, and then painting back in just the area around the dog, but not at full opacity. Being that this photo was the bottom layer, it allowed the linework to show through. Once I got the dog in place, I began changing the colors of the different elementsw of the ArtsyKard, moving some to areas that work better with the photo. I played around with the different blend modes to get the look I wanted. I added the 12 x 12 textured Overlay, changing its color and blend mode. The background layer of the ArtsyKard was modified slightly by first using curves, and increasing the contrast to better show the wonderful texture on the paper. I next increase the saturation of this background paper, and then changed to hue increasing the yellow in the page. I added the title, and journaling, and then added the LoopDaLoop.
