March Calendar Page

I happened to use Anna's ArtPlay Fotographie on one of my calendar pages, so when I saw it was on sale this week, I decided to play around with it a bit more and then share it. The CoolGlows and Artist Edge Overlay added some nice touches (too bad the calendar is already printed!). My calendar theme was Celebrating Childhood and Being Childlike. As I was scouring boxes of old photos, I came across this photo booth image of me, my little brother and favorite cousin. My cousin and I had a very close and special relationship and it broke my heart when he died many years ago. It was a special treat to find this photo and celebrate our good times together as children. I love how his eyes are so open and looking right into the camera.

Process

After clipping my photo to the square grid, I added transfers around the various areas of the grid and played with blending modes - using Hard Light, Color Burn & Linear Dodge. The one on the upper left was duplicated to give it more punch (both set to Hard Light). I put a cool glow under that transfer and set the blending mode to Linear Light. I then copied the glow and moved it to the lower right and set its blending mode to Vivd Light. Since my photo was a bit faded and the edges seemed to need some contrast against the white background, I added a distressed edge overlay and transformed the edges to match the grid of squares. I then did the same thing with the Artist Edge overlay. Lastly I added the paint splat overlay from Fotographie and colored it tan to go along with the accent in the upper left transfer and finished it with some wordart and elements.

Thanks so much for looking!
Lovely, Deb! Love the window pane design with the photos and love those perfect words for the memories.
