Love

I recently contacted Laura about the sad passing of her lovely dog Charley and I mentioned that I haven't considered getting another dog since we lost our beautiful Shannon 11 years ago because the sadness at the time was just awful and I'm not sure I'm up for that pain again - Anyway, this is our girl!

I started with one of the artsy papers and rotated so the small stain was at the bottom. I then used the dog transfer as a clipping mask and clipped the second paper to it as I just wanted to use part of it. I already had another page with this photograph so I'm not sure what fotoblendz is used with the photograph but any of Anna's fotoblendz would work here. This is positioned on top of the transfers and paper. I then positioned a sketch brush which looks very like a retriever behind on lowered opacity. Sandwiched in between the transfers is the frame which softens the look. Likewise the ribbon is sandwiched in this way. The crumpled paper is on color burn, paw brush on overlay, wordart on color dodge. lastly I used the rectangle selection tool to take bites out the paper and frame to create strips added at the bottom in a little cluster with the bow and paper repeated.
Also used is heart brushes and skinny lined overlays.

SO sorry about your lost! I'm so familiar with this feeling! And no, the time not heal it. But if you let your pain to scare you then Death is won. However!
Love the brush work on your page!

Totally understand your sentiment. When we lost Phoenix we were just crushed and just haven't got another dog since her. That being said, I love this tribute to your pet baby.

So beautiful! And I understand totally...we lost our Jodie 2 years ago and it was so hard. I don't think we could go thru that again.

What a beautiful dog, and a fitting tribute. The feelings really ARE indescribable, aren't they? We're over two months away from Charley's passing and I still find myself weeping at the oddest moments. I'm just letting it all drain through me.... Maybe someday another dog will find his or her way into our lives, but for now I'm really enjoying the grand-animals. The rawness of loss is taking a while to mellow out.

great capture Fiona... yup... our Fenway is almost 13... still thinks she's a pup but her arthritic wrists tell her otherwise... won't even let myself think where we're headed... you really showcased Shannon in such a lovely way... beautiful page...

That is such a madness, your ideology really upset me ladies! 11 years are one or even both (if they are get together) dogs lifes saved from the shelter. Unwanted dogs are euthanized. And if you don't love animals or you don't care, all right I can understand this. But here I see four good person which could, but they are too scared to give love, and this really, really crashed me!

Such a beautiful tribute, Fiona! I, also, couldn't look at another dog, it's been 5 years. But I visited the local shelter a year ago and just looked... I found "Buddy" a cute little dog that won my heart. Oddly enough, my big "buddy" had the same name; I totally get it.
