Key West 2024-01-13-web.jpg

Who would have guessed that 2 Minnesotans would be wandering the streets of Key West looking for their next breakfast crepe? Before I go any further, I must digress; is it pronounced ‘crep’ with an ‘eh’ or is it crepe with an ayyyyyy, like Fonzie in Happy Days. Either way, it is very strange that we needed to know to begin with, so we just started calling them creepies instead even, though they were definitely NOT creepy, we were on a mission for crepe breakfast redux. We found our quarry on Duval Street, at Banana Café. I looked for the minions, but they weren’t there. We played ‘Where’s Waldo’ with my cousin, Key West style. They’ve are seasoned professionals spending winters there, so they know it well. I would take a selfie and see if they knew where we were. Stumped them on this one. I had an eggs Benedict crepe and Wendell being his Key West version, meaning very adventurous self-had a La Super Crepe; egg, sausage, ham, Swiss cheese, with a choice of mushroom sauce or bechamel sauce. Mushroom was recognizable, but neither of us knew what bechamel sauce was, we’re small-town Minnesotans people. We asked the lovely French owner/host what it was, but our Minnesota ears couldn’t understand her and instead of saying ‘eh’ he chose the bechamel because it’s Key West, feel the wild side. I wondered if there was a word balloon above her head saying, “EEEEE-DDDDDD-uts”. The meals were FABulous and since we were in Key West, they were calorie free. Now, if anyone believes that, give me a call, I have an ocean front condo in Minnesota for sale.

I applied a linear burn to the background layer, made a border strip mask out of multiple elements. I used a linear burn on the masks and in one case a color burn. I extracted the paint from one of the other papers to use for the journaling and applied a vellum style to that. I used a font finder for the word art to determine the font and made a matching piece of word art for the title.

This is fantastic! I love your story telling, especially about your adventures in Key West. Playing Where's Waldo with your pictures sounds like fun. The peeling paper peeking out across the top and from behind those beautiful pictures is perfect. You did an excellent job with the border strip mask. I like the title work and its placement. You sure do know how to VACAY

Oh, Jeanne, your journaling had me rolling in the aisles! (And I don't even have any aisles :floorlaugh: ). Your photos are wonderful and, wow, you really got a fantastic shot of one of their famous sunsets! I love your masking and blending as well. Just a whole delightful page!

I love this! Especially the title. Your masks are so creative; you inspire me to try something new.
Thank you, Terri, I had fun with the title, and I spent more time that necessary on that border LOL, I've decided that sometimes in Photoshop, I know enough to be dangerous, but not enough to speed up the process :rotfl:

Thank you, @bitzee sometimes I get on a roll with the journaling and keep babbling away, and it's not after I've had a glass of wine. We were there 10 days the first time, enough time to get hooked, but not enough time; this year we stayed 3 weeks and THAT'S when we learned to Vacay. Hubs says it's a trip, because we're retired so it's not I vacay. To-may-toe, to-mah-toe, it's FABulous during a MN winter.

Oh thank you @FloridaGranny , with the world the way it is, we all need to roll in the aisles every now and then, I'm happy my journaling could be your reason. I get on a roll sometimes, I think it's because I was an elementary school librarian for 35 years and I loved reading books to the kids and telling stories. It could also be that I'm related to the minions.
