Christmas 1958
I remember this blue dress.
It felt special with the matching
cardigan and full petticoat--both fashionable
trends in the 50s. My mother cleverly sewed
a few jingle bells in the layers of the ruffled
undergarment...that extra special touch she put
on everything she did. The problem arose when
I wore the dress in public. Someone
was always searching for the source of the bells...
much too conspicuous for a shy six-year-old!
At my request, Mom gladly removed
the bells.
