Hot Dog Haiku (AnnaLift 7.5.13)

I've been having sooooo much fun scrapping lately (until a few days ago I had not scrapped a page in over 6 months!) that I decided to make another page for the most recent AnnaLift https://ozone.oscraps.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26797. I think this page could best be described as a lift of a lift (a chain lift, if you will...), since I was inspired by Veer's https://ozone.oscraps.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=290222&title=anna-lift&cat=1351 most excellent take on Marleen's https://ozone.oscraps.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=289616&title=ballerina&cat=1351 page, and in fact I even used a few of the same elements on my page as Veer used on hers, but while her page is elegant and classy, mine is, well, not. :)

The story is this...

This is yet another page for my Chicago vacation book. As I've mentioned on other postings, most of the pictures for that trip have been sorted and scrapped with multi-photo templates, but I have a few photos that I'm putting on separate pages. These pages will be used as sort of chapter starters. Yeah, okay, but a page about a hot dog? Yup! I love these things! Always have, and Chicago is rather famous for having some of the best hot dogs around. So, after a long, loooonnnng day of sight seeing that ended with a thorough and complete walk up and down Michigan Ave., Mr. Squeak and I were foot-sore, tired and very, very hungry. I'd read about a hot dog place called Portillo's, located a few blocks west of Michigan Ave. Although it's now a chain restaurant, their hot dogs had great reviews on Yelp and in our guidebooks, so we decided to give it a try. Only problem--it was about 10 blocks from where we were. Now, 10 blocks is not a far walk, but after spending the entire day doing nothing but walking and taking photos, we weren't sure we could walk another step. However, step we did, and after a bit of grumbling and snarking ("Who's idea was this, anyway?!?" "These had better be the best hot dogs on the planet!!" "Now my blisters have blisters!!") we finally saw our goal directly in front of us, shining like a welcoming beacon on a dark night. Yeah, okay, the shining part was just because it was sunset and the sun was shining right behind the restaurant, but the effect was awesome! All that was missing was a choir of angels singing the Hallelujah Chorus! :) The hot dogs themselves turned out to be quite tasty, and we concluded that the walk had been worth it. While we were sitting and enjoying our hard-won meal, I came up with a haiku that summarized our experience; this is where the page title comes from.

ETA: I forgot to add that I have a second page that will be paired with this one; the story will go on that page.

It's Sunday mid-morning and I'm still in my jammies. Guess I should shower and dress for the day. Sigh. On the other hand, it's so nice to be able to scrap and heaven knows when I'll get the time again, so maybe I'll just stay here in front of the computer for a bit longer... :)

Glad you have your scrap mojo back !!!
So good to see that my page and Marleen's inspired you !!!

Well have you ever seen a elegant hot-dog ?! hahahaha
But i do love your page !!!!

Ha ha! How are the feet. Enjoyed the story. Would never have thought of adding pink to a page about hamburgers but there you go - it works! Love the idea of adding a haiku. That's an idea I might lift one day.
