Process: I worked with the photo first, adapting Ulla-Mays sketch tutorial for my photo. I clipped the photo to FotoBlendz Overlay7_1. I resized both the mask and photo a little. I placed solid paper_4 from the AP. Above that I added solid_3 on linear burn at 35%. Then I used another sketch technique for the street perspective photo which involves first creating two b&w layers, inverting the top copy and changing the blend mode to color dodge. Next I applied a minimum filter to the top layer on 1. I set the blend mode of that layer to linear burn at 75%. I masked out parts of that sketch. Next, I added taped texture_7 along the right edge of the building and texture_6 and transfer_3 along the left side. I placed the gold paint above the roof line. Below the street sketch, I placed transfer_4. Above the sketch, I placed 5 layers of AT_4, 7 layers of AT_2 and a texture from AT_3. I reduced the opacity of several layers but left the blend modes as they were.

I then extracted the bench on to a mask rather than inverting and deleting. That allowed me to bring back a little of the ground with a brush. I gave it a little shadow and placed the suitcase next to it. I changed the perspective of the suitcase. In the window of H.H. Bennetts store I tried to replicate the photographs that were there. I placed one of his quotes on the glass window. For my title, I used a script for his name and another font for the subtitle. I gave his name a stroke and a small drop shadow. The little cluster at the side is composed of three postage stamps on linear burn at 50% from AP Snapshot. I placed them below Snapshot brush_6. I gave the brush just a little shadow and attached one of the ribbons from the AP banner. Below the stamps I placed subtle quote_7. I finished my journaling and added the date.

Note: Initially I used the ribbon as provided in ArtPlay Palette Old World. But after reading Adryanes tutorial here on aging elements, I reopened this file and aged my ribbon with Dripped Stains No. 5 per the instructions in Adryanes tutorial.
Linda, this is an amazing piece! I love the detail you put into it. It shows!

this is stunning Linda. I could tell from the thumbnail just how special it was. I love that you can see just a hint of the other buildings in the layout as well, and I love the page design and your fonts. I think Pretty Script is one of my favs now!
