I layered background brushes over the base paper and then created a mask to clip my photo to with a variety of brushes and then reduced the opacity. For the small framed photo, I duplicated it, rotated slightly under the original and then tucked some elements in between the two. I duplicated, resized and erased bits off the original cluster of elements, duplicating it twice.
