My mom doesn't live close to us, but when our daughter was born, she jumped on a plane and spent Rachel's first week with us. It was becoming a mom, and then having my mom with me that really brought home how important family is. I don't think I ever cried so hard when my mom left - I felt she left a big hole in my heart to not be near to her new grand-daughter - it was so hard.

I love this photo of my mom and my daughter - it is one of my very favorites.
