Festival of Sail

This was a fun lift. Thank you Linda for the wonderful inspiration: https://ozone.oscraps.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29978

The labor day weekend is always the weekend for the Festival of Sail in San Diego. The ships are so majestic, and can take you back in time.

Photo by the Port of San Diego (I wish I could have gotten that close to the ships)

The Process: I began with a cardstock from AP Vivacity, and added the photo. I then changed the cardstock color to the dark aqua to be similar to that of the water in the photo. I added a slightly textured paper from AP Vivacity and placed it over the aqua paper and applied Blend Mode Linear Burn, so that the paper took on a bit of its texture. I added the distress edge frame, and then removed part of the bottom of the frame lines, and with a copy of the photo behind the first photo, painted in the water were it extends beyond the bottom frame line, and the very top of the sail of the large sailing vessel. I added the stitching along the bottom right and the left edges of the photo edge, and then added the stitched banner, masking out a portion of the thread tails. I added the anchor brush, and the brad, along with the artstrokes in both black and in white (using blend mode divide). I then added some transfers from AP Sea Life and AP Sea Foam, and placed them behind the photo. In addition, I blended in a bit of the lace transfer from AP Salty Living. The photo had a bland sky, so I added the transfer from AP Summer days, placed it on blend mode pin light, and masked around the sailing vessels.

***thanks for looking***
wow - your brush work and textures are so beautiful and perfect- this should be in a museum for the Port of SD!

Love everything about it! The color is great and the center ship seems to pop off the page.
