ESHAS-9 Vintage Beach

An old photo I recently found, then lost, then found again (at least the scan, the physical photo is still missing). This is my dad, brother and I in 1964.
I've been very inspired by the simple summer stories in this challenge, and wanted to do one as well.

Journaling:
I found this picture the last time I was cleaning out Moms house, and I took a picture of it, then somehow filed and lost it, both the physical copy (its not in the cigar boxes) and the scan. But the other day I found the scan while looking for something else. This is Daddy, Frankie & I, holding a blow-up fish. There is a date on the top edge of the photo, August 1964. I would have been 7 1/2 years old. I dont remember much about it. I am fairly sure this is down the shore, but where? I remember Aunt Ceil & Uncle Chick (perhaps with Aunt Carmine & Uncle Paulie, because they always did everything together) had a beach house in Tuckerton, NJ. I know we went there a couple of times. This might have been on the Little Egg Harbor that sits between the mainland and Long Beach Island, or perhaps it is on one of the creeks leading into the harbor. I remember a boat, I remember crabbing off a dock using chicken parts and a crab net, I remember crabs being cooked. And I remember a lot of people in the house, the kids sleeping on lawn chairs. I remember Mom there, and wonder if she took this picture. I think this was all fun and interesting. I know Dad was always happy when he was with his sisters and brothers-in-law. They would always laugh a lot. I believe there were cocktails
involved. Its a little hard to look at these old pictures, for with memories comes sadness, but regardless of what came afterward, I think we were all happy then.
Very pretty! The colors compliment the muted shades in the old color photo. I like the sprinkling of elements across the bottom.

How nice that you "re"- found it!!!! SO frustrating to be so careful and then it is missing... I am dealing with too much of that... A week or so ago I wanted a photo of my husband when we were dating and went looking for it... apparently I have never copied it or used it in anything I have done genealogy wise, yet I know I had a copy made for my daughter because it is on her bedroom wall... But what did I do with the original?,... usually the original goes back where it came from... I am not quite sure where that might be??? I think I have torn down the album it was in... can't find it??? and I can see more of the photos that shoudl be in it in my head... problem is I started pulling stuff for each person and putting in folders... Time to get to the Genealogy! Anyway, You have a lovely page full of old memories and the frustrations of this particular photo....

love the colors! so glad you were able to find the photo! lovely journaling! beautiful page!

Wow! I was going through a box of photos my brother sent me just today, from my dad's house. I haven't found any photos from those days, but I had that exact feeling you describe. So I'd say awesome journaling and a great photo from those days.

Such a beautiful journaling page--so glad you found this photo. Always they bring bitter-sweet memories.

adore this, but especially how you framed your wonderful childhood memory. glad your walk down memory lane evoked happy summer days with your Dad and his family.

Great page. Enjoyed reading the story behind the page and the photo itself. Lovely colouring. I hope you will frame it or something. It's really special.

I remember so many gatherings where there were cocktails involved. Funny what sticks in our childhood heads. Glad you shared this, bittersweet and all.

Gorgeous retro feel to your page. Glad you found the photo again and enjoyed the journaling you shared. Yes, often hard to look back on memories with a different perspective as we get older. Thanks so much for sharing.
