I used Topaz Studio to convert my photo to b/w, then used the Image Adjusts in PS to brighten it a touch so it would stand out against the elements on the page. I used a layer mask to erase a small area of the photo so the paint accent would show through

I love the contrast between the masked black and white photo and the color scheme you have used. Just wonderful.
