I scrapped the powerful anti-war poem "The Little Girl" (
Kız Çocuğu) by Turkish poet Nâzım Hikmet. In the US, it's better known as "I Come and Stand at Every Door," a translation set to the tune of "The Great Silkie" by Jim Waters and popularized by Pete Seeger. But I actually prefer the original Turkish poem set to music by Turkish composer Fazil Say (
Fazıl Say & Gökçe Çatakoğlu - Kız Çocuğu - YouTube).
