What a privilege to live so close to a major city with all of it's cultural and ethnic diversity!! I'm constantly taking advantage of it and making sure Nigel shares in the experience. We used to go to the Lion Dance Parade every year until I started having to work during it This was our first parade in five years. Nigel didn't seem to remember much about the last one we went to and was a little apprehensive. (He's not one for sitting out in the cold watching the parade go by). He was thrilled to learn that we actually WERE the parade as we and hundreds of others followed the Buddah and The Lions through the streets of ChinaTown Philadelphia! We stopped at many of the local shops to wish the owners health, happiness, and prosperity. And were rewarded for our efforts with chopped up cabbages (offerings to the lion) and strings of fireworks sometimes 40 feet long!!! Afterward we had lunch at Dim Sum Garden ... some of the best dumplings in the city!!! I used:
