Growing up in suburb of Chicago, I lived in a divided house. My Dad was a White Sox fan; my Mom was a Cubs fan. Dad drank Coke, Mom drank Pepsi. The only time they really wrangled over this was Christmas EveMom always put out cheese and crackers for Santa...along with a nice, cold bottle of Pepsi. (She said Santa had too many sweets already from the other children and he needed something more substantial.) And every Christmas morning there was a thank you note from Santa. He thanked us for the snacks, but he always reminded us that "Coke" was HIS favorite, not Pepsi. It wasn't until I was in 2nd grade that I realized the note was in Dad's handwriting. And much, much later, I understood that it was their own holiday tradition to gently tease each other over the merits of pop. Although I rarely drink it now, occasionally I will throughly enjoy a nice cold Pepsiafter all, I really am my Mother's daughter. Happy Holidays!
