In the Twilight Hours

Journaling: During the routine of the day we dont really see our surroundings until something makes us stop and notice. This happened one evening after work to me. Making a quick stop before going home, I noticed the clouds parting in the twilight over the mountains after many rainy days. The deep blues in the sky with the parking lot lights were beautiful in the autumn evening. I wanted the moment to last. Feeling the work day dropping away, I took my phone out of my pocket and snapped a photo. Of course it doesnt do it justice, but records the moment to remember later and the feeling it gave me.

Process Notes: Opening solid paper 2 and the bonus photoblendz with layers, I clipped the photo to the main part of the mask and duplicated the photo three more times and clipped the photo to each mask layer, tape, stain and foliage. Using Normal blend mode for the main part of the mask and Color Burn for the rest of mask layers.

Next I added transfers from the palette in the upper right corner and put it on Color Burn, lined up another transfer with the texture on the paper to the left of the photo and also put it on Color Burn giving it a stained look. Running down from that texture to the bottom of the page, I added a leaf brush, recoloring and using Darker Color blend mode. Using various brushes I added stains, splatters and creases using colors from the photo.

Adding word art and my journaling, I used the gradient tool for the title to make it fade away, just like the twilight of the evening. I roughed up the word art quote with the yellow from the photo and placed my journaling underneath, using the Vivid Light blend mode after recoloring a shade from the page. I just wanted the journaling to look a part of the word art framing and not take the eye away from the photo. For the finishing touch I placed the urban stitches.

This truly was a very special moment that stopped me in my tracks as I came out of the grocery store. A moment that takes you by surprise and you feel blessed to be alive.
I love that a page can capture a moment like this. It's a kind of moment I think we all can relate to.

The perfect quote to complement your photo and thoughts, Barbara! I love the blues of the night sky!

An attractive photo which gives us so much to see of the landscape that of the magic of moment! Very attractive poetic page!

Beautiful work, Barbara. I like the very soft glow around the lights and how you blended the title into the background.
