Jumiges Abbey is a major historical site in Normandy. This great Benedictine Abbey was founded by Saint Philibert in 654. Its developing was quite impressive although disrupted by the Viking invasions. It renaissance was encouraged by the Dukes of Normandy, and it became an important economic and intellectual centre famous for its scriptorium.
After the French Revolution the abbey was sold and became a stone quarry. The complex was purchased by the French State in 1946.
Reconstruction of "the most beautiful ruine" of France has never been envisaged. Consolidation work, planned over several years will allow the reopening of several parts actually closed for security reasons.
I started with a watercolor TemplateAlbum 2 - 11.
The background is a blending of solidpaper6 of CreatewingsDesigns Wonderfull and solidpapeer of AAminipaletteMemento. I changed the size of the masks to offer more space for my photos. All the elements added come from the MiniPalette Memento: stains, splatters, leaves, flower... I also added tapetextures 4-6,1-3 and 1-9, the SeeWordArt 1-7 and the title.
