Thanks of the inspiration Marieen!

I found the photo when I stumbled on this amazing story about the women who flew military aircraft during WW2. If you don't know the story then you will be amazed as I was when you read it.

Over a thousand young women flew military aircraft under military command between 1942 and 1944 but were not formally integrated into the Air Force. When they were officially disbanded their records were sealed and they were sent home without ceremony. They served without recognition and not without sacrifice.

'Thirty-eight WASP were killed flying for their country, their bodies sent home in cheap pine boxes, their burial at the expense of their family or classmates. Still considered civilians, these heroic pilots were denied any military benefits or honours, no gold star allowed in their parents' window, no American flag to cover their coffins.'

There is much much more to their story if you'd like to look them up.
