1949 Los Angeles Snow Storm

If you don't think it snows in Los Angeles, these photos of my DH taken in 1949 during a three day storm that left a foot of snow, indicate there was enough for a nice snowman. It just doesn't happen often:)

Process: I love the new Snow Fotoblendz masks and began this layout by dragging the psd version of mask_5 onto a new page. Then I searched for a photo to fit the mask. I found two old photos of my husband, taken in 1949 during the big snow storm in the San Fernando Valley, just over the Sepulveda Pass from Los Angeles. A little web research confirmed the photos date and provided more information about the abnormal weather for Southern California.

After editing the focal photo, I clipped it to the mask and then began recoloring the snowflakes and stains to match the glow from the new palette. To build texture I placed some spackle texture and changed the blend mode to multiply above the mask. Below the mask, I placed overlay 1 and overlay 3, masking out the parts as needed. Between these two layers I placed transfer_2. Above these I placed some of the layers from Artsy Transfers Winter Sunrise_3, shifting and masking to work with overlay_3 just below.

On the left, I resized the second photo and clipped it to part of mask_4. I repeated my process, adding sparkle texture, recoloring and placing layers from the psd transfer_2 above and below my photo. I added some elements from the new palette in three places to create a visual triangle to direct the eye as well as crocheted snowflakes to mix in a little vintage with these old photos. I added my journaling and the word art to finish my page.

Thanks for looking:)
So well done!! I love the look of the page, the colors, the blending. And such wonderful photos to have of that special time!
