This is my modest attempt and the closest I can get to a monochrome challenge.
Indeed a challenge for me the not using much color.
I treated the focal image with the poster edges filter effect and watercolor techniques.
I also used the clone tool for the flowers on the hat.
The overlay was used to end the composition.
