The Process
I began with an artsy paper from AP Serenity. For the center photo I clipped the photo to a ModGrunge foto mask, duplicated it and changed the blending mode to multiply to darken it a bit. I clipped several transfers from AP Serenity to the photo, changing the blending modes to hard light, linear burn, multiply and soft light (adjusting the opacity). I duplicated my original photo again and layered it above the transfers and changed the blending mode to hard light to given it more edge. I duplicated the original photo 2 more times and placed them on the right and left sides of the page with the blending modes changed to hard light. Because the blending modes were transparent, the color of the background paper came through. I also scanned the handwriting on the back of the photo and extracted the white background using the magic wand tool. The page was completed by adding title work, elements, strokes and word art.
