Cotton

I used to live in the central valley in California, one of the major crops grown there is cotton. I loved when the cotton plants began to show the cotton bolls, it looked like a field of snow.

Process: Used as my base (background) Upcycled ARTPaperie No 5_4, then added a FotoBlendz clipping mask and placed it in the black area of the background paper, I used Annas tips on her Blending with Brushes 3 video to adapt my clipping mask to fit the area. Clipped my cotton photo to it, duplicated photo and placed it behind the mask, used a sketch technique, then blending mode multiply and lowered the opacity. Added some elements and recolored them by using my color balance adjustment layer ( I like using the adjustments in the layer pa

I grew up in Yuma AZ and cotton fields are everywhere and I know what you mean about how they look like snow! love the use of the cotton fabric as the background! fantastic page!

I did not know they grew cotton in the central valley! this is so wonderfully textural!

When I first looked at this I thought that it was a floral print fabric that had been blended at the bottom portion of the paper and I was like oohh what a gorgeous pattern. Upon a second, third and fourth look I see it is rows of cotton!!! Fantastic page, and it convinced me to purchase the Art Papers.

cotton is so cool. My mom told me she grew up around a lot of farms that grew cotton, and she would help to pick it sometimes. When my dd was little we visited where my mom lives now, and there were cotton fields (already picked), but my dd and I went to pick some of the few pieces that remained. So cool. Love this layout Fran.
