Instantly Captured Moments
The Process: I dont quite get it, but I find it very difficult to create a simple layout. This page began quite simply, but hours and hours later, I was still adding, and tweaking, and adding some more. I adore those who can create a simple design!!!
BTW, this is the one and only baby portrait taken of me. My mom had a thing about people always thinking I was a boy, because my hair didnt grow for a long time, so she always had me dressed in frilly dresses, but I cannot believe that in the studio portrait (that was poorly hand colored (if you look closely at the original)), my mom had me not in a dress, but in a slip. Very odd indeed.
I had intended on much more white space, but it didnt end up that way. I started with the neutral paper, added the torn frame, and attached the photo to it. I decided I would have the image come out of the frame, so I duplicated the photo, and masked out all but the figure. I then moved the clipped photo and the extruded photo to the left, so that it was extended beyond the edge of and bottom of the frame. I love Annas AP Snapshot camera transfers, so I added that next, and then began bringing in elements. I thought the MultiMedia branch that is very neutral would be perfect for the page, so I added that next. I then added many of the other items, looking for neutral, beige based items, but the page evolved such that in the end, I selected an item here and there, and modified its color to bring in a bit of pink, because of the pink in the outfit. I also made certain to add a fotoglow here and then, in between layers to play up the pink ever so slightly. As I began to add elements, I added a few FotoBlendz behind all the elements changing their color and blend modes to slightly darken the base area. I played around with the layers locations of all the items to get the effect I was looking for, for example, you will notice that the scriptTease layers are above some layers, but not others I played around with them, moving them in the layer stack until I liked the look. Also, to add more texture, I added a diagonal fine lined brush for added texture amongst the elements (cant get enough texture) I have to say that I had trouble with the blended image in the background. I wanted to keep the hands showing, so once everything else was set, I added the blended image, and then played around with the scale of both the blended image, and the grouping of elements. I had to force myself to stop messing with the layout so I am calling it DONE.
