My Process:

This was the last photo that we took of my husband's grandmother before she passed away two years ago. She passed just three days before my youngest son was born and we like to think that she helped to usher him into this world.

I wanted to create a page that emphasized the photo in and of itself and reinforced its beauty and its importance. The Elegence AP was perfect for this. With a few pops of a single color and the bold paper borders at the top and bottom I feel like there is a real sense of drama to the page-one that shines the light on this beautiful woman.

The paper borders were made using a Photoshop pattern that I created from a tile of hand-drawn doodles given to me by my friend Michelle Houghton who is a Copic and illustration genius! Once I cropped and defined the hand-drawn sample I was able to apply it via an adjustment layer and play around with the scale, then clip it to these torn paper scraps.

The Pattern Adjustment layer can be a great way to transform hand-drawn or custom digital patterns into patterned papers, fun titles, interesting brush layers, etc.
