thanks, Chris, for making me think about a dream. great inspiration for this week's AnnaLift! https://ozone.oscraps.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=263201&title=time-to-dream&cat=1351

this church (afterwards a mosque, now a museum) in Istanbul plays an historic role in my faith tradition. and is the masterproject of a truly eccentric guy, Emperor Justinian, who married a harlot and ruled an empire with her for decades.

the text reads:
The current building was constructed as a church between 532 and 537 AD on the orders of the Byzantine Emperor Justinian, and was in fact the third Church of the Holy Wisdom to occupy the site. It was designed by two architects, Isidore of Miletus and Anthemius of Tralles. Hagia Sofia contained a large collection of holy relics and featured, among other things, a 50 ft. silver iconostasis. It was the patriarchal church of the Patriarch of Constantinople and the religious focus point of the Eastern Orthodox Church for nearly 1000 years.Hagia Sofia or Holy Wisdom is the mother church of all Eastern Christians of the Byzantine liturgical tradition both Orthodox and Greek Catholic.

So love your style - and this effect is a perfect match - especially in your talented hands. Love it, Phylis!

hehehe!! I see the little car there, maybe you can take a ferry??? :D

Love your page and maybe some day you can get an opportunity to see it and not have airplane issues either. (one can dream, right??)

Thanks for your comment on my layout :) I am sure you don't want to hear then that I went there twice! Not both during the same vacation I mean. Hopefully you will make it there one day: it's gorgeous and a lot of the really important historic buildings are so close together within walking distance like Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace :)
