Journaling Reads: Ron and I decided to volunteer for the National Ski Patrol in 1991, and one week into the class we found out I was pregnant. We still decided to complete the program and join the patrol at Bear Mountain in Big Bear. I spent my pregnancy off my skis and working from the patrol room. Ron is an expert skier, so he took to the slopes bringing the injured down the mountain in toboggans for me to patch up. It was rewarding & fun and it gave Ron a lot of ski time. I quit after my 2nd year, but Ron continued for many years to patrol, eventually teaching classes and even becoming a certified patroller.
