Catherine

My DH's grandmother had to be strong. She is the one on the left and her four children are in the picture. I love the look of it with the flags.
Journaling reads:
Catherine's mother died when she was only nine. Her stepmother apparently was stereotypically wicked. At eighteen she left Bavaria for American where she cared for her uncle and his wife in Illinois. They left her their land making her a desirable bride. She then married, moved to a farm in Tennessee and had four children. Her husband could never tear himself away from his mother and siblings and eventually Catherine divorced him. She raised the four children on her own and later remarried to a man who put her first. She always had to be strong!

Love the strong colors to reflect the strong woman. Love that heritage photo and your journaling is both sad and happy (glad she found someone good at the end, even though it must have been difficult to be divorced.)
