remembering today

A little reflection today. Thank you, Anna, for these beautiful Autumnal Kits that have inspired me to put my thoughts and words and memories together.

Thank you for looking, but truly THANK YOU for reading.

We never know when we take a photo how much that quick and simple click might mean to someone. Today this click means everything to me. You see this was her LAST photo.

Joanie hated to have her picture taken and always avoided the camera, but not on this day. On this day, as she had lunch with friends, she posed for this photo. SHE KNEW. She knew there wouldnt be much time left. She knew the cancer was spreading beyond what any chemo or radiation or any new medications could control. SHE KNEW. She knew we would want any and all photos as keepsakes and memories. She didnt do this for herself, she did this for us. Always thinking of others and always doing for others, even with this horrible disease taking its final control over her body.

SHE KNEW. She knew more than she let us know about her last doctor appointment. She knew whether she told us the full news or not, it didnt change those painful results in that medical file.
She knew she didnt want a funeral. She knew we needed a time for grieving and closure. She knew how difficult and emotionally painful planning a service would be for us. She knew and she quietly planned her service with her own words and thoughts and inspirational music.

SHE KNEW. She knew she wouldnt be here any longer to celebrate Thanksgiving or Christmas or Birthdays. But most important, she knew she was not alone. She knew she was loved. She knew this was not the end. She knew she was going home to Our Lord. SHE KNEW.

Amazing journaling Donna! Thanks for sharing her story. I'm thinking about you and her today.

Oh Donna, how desperately sad and yet beautiful at the same time! Joanie sound like a wonderful woman who has left behind a legacy of love. I hope that scrapping this page has eased the pain a little and helped you with this sad anniversary. Truly beautiful tribute.

Donna what a beautiful page, It made my heart soar and sadden at the same time. She sounds like a remarkable woman who cared so for others. Thanks for sharing her story! Your title and journaling show just how she was loved!

What a heartfelt tribute to a lost friend. The journaling is very moving. That's what scrapbooking is for, not just recording memories but to pour out your feelings too!

What a PRECIOUS friend! It's a very giving person who will think of others first even in the midst of pain. The theme of her 'knowing' weaves through your journaling letting us 'know' this was a wise woman who loved her friends. It is obvious how much you miss her and how much you loved her. Donna, you have had some major losses--your sister and Joanie. I pray God comforts you dear friend. Thank you for reminding us today how important that one 'click' can be. ((HUGS))
