20th Wedding Anniversary

JOURNALING SAYS:
Today is my twentieth wedding annniversary. I cant believe its been twenty years already. Its like they say time flies when youre having fun. My husband always surprises me for our anniversary. We were hoping to go on a trip somewhere, but our budget just didnt allow it. On Friday night we ate dinner at a beautiful French restaurant, since I am French. Afterwards my husband drove to a local hotel. He had reserved a deluxe room for two nights. The room had a Jacuzzi bathrub right beside the bed and a two-person shower and marble counter-top in the washroom. When I walked into the room the first thing I noticed was rose petals all over the tub and the bed. There was a heart-shaped box of chocolates on the bed as well. There was also a champagne bucket on a stand beside the tub and six roses in a vase on the ledge of the tub. But what really blew me away was the box on the dresser. It was a black box with the words Dom Perignon in silver writing on it. I was stunned! A few years ago I had mentioned to my husband that Ive always wanted to try Dom Perignon champagne, but that of-course it was way out of our price range. Well, he remembered what I said and here was a bottle of one of the most expensive champagnes in the world. He said he wanted me to feel special. He certainly succeeded! The next day we went to see a movie I had picked out. It was a Woody Allen movie called Midnight in Paris. Ive always wanted to go to Paris and the city featured very prominently in the movie. I figured if I caouldnt actually go to Paris, the next best thing would be to see a movie that takes place there. The movie was excellent! We both really enjoyed it. Afterwards we went out for dinner again, this time at an Italian restaurant I really like. The food was fantastic, as usual. When we got back to the hotel we went for a swim in the hotels salt water pool. The last time I had swam in salt water was on our honeymoon in the Florida keys, so it was quite a treat to taste the salt on my lips from the water. I love the ocean and this was the next best thing. My gift to my husband was a jar I decorated with 365 strips of paper in it, each with a reason why I love him. Each night he will take one strip out of the jar and read it. That way he always goes to sleep knowing how much he is loved. Now I am back home reflecting on the lovely weekend I just had. I realize that verything we did this weekend had meaning. My husband filled our weekend with experiences he knew I would love. It reminds me again of how much he and I love each other. I am so incredibly blessed to have the kind of love that is probably one in a million. I am so grateful.
