Journaling: I think I have always been a storyteller. My very first original written work was done during 5th grade. I had a notebook with three pretty girls on the cover, and they became the heroines in my story. Throughout high school I would write what I didnt realize then was fan fiction of my favorite TV shows. I filled notebooks with my original fairytales. If I wasnt doodling character designs I was writing. But it wasnt until Marian showed me her thesis with her original short stories, that I thought I of writing for a living.
I loved writing fiction and some of my best stories came out during college. Once I started magazine work came a different love of stories. I loved reading and writing about real people and issues. Writing feature articles is brought out another kind of excitement in the writing. I love that I got to tell other peoples stories with my own words.
Then came scrapbooking, and I realized it is also storytelling--but that of my own life. It is putting my thoughts and photos together as art. It is sharing pieces of myself. It is being a different kind of storyteller, but one just as important as a fictionist or magazine writer.
