jouranling reads:
When my parents divorced when I was seven, my Dad never tried to rotate holidays.
Instead we made our own special days. Dad lived in a town 15min from where we grew up. December 23rd was Christmas at Dad's house. When we were younger
I helped my Dad convince my sisters that Santa came one day early in the town he lived in.
But the real tradition came later when he built his house.
We were older and instead of getting us a gift, he developed this scavenger hunt.
These cheesy riddles we took turns drawing out of a bowl (the same ones each year...for about 12 years).
Each location hid a $10 bill. We each took turns till we had $100.
As we grew into adults this continued, complete with Mazzio's pizza for dinner & my homemade salsa. Our husbands were included, and Dad would give me money
to buy the girls gifts to open before our scavenger craziness.
Sometimes it was fun, others it was a nuisance resulting in a sibling argument over ignorance.
But today, I long for just one more crazy Christmas scavenger hunt.
I don't know what December 23, 2009 will hold,
But I'm thinking, we might just order Mazzio's Pizza.
