Mirror Mirror ........O Stash Challenge
A LO of me for the O Stash July challenge - mirror mirror on the wal...........
Journaling reads:
I look in the mirror these days and I find that I am happy, wrinkles, love handles and all! I turned 57 last June and rather than feeling old and wasted I feel content to be in my own skin.
I have realised that there is nothing I have to prove to anyone anymore, I am who I am, I am simply ME. I dont have to try and compete with anyone else, to have the best house, to go to all the in places, to have the latest fashions or have the top job. I like my life at the moment; yes I have money problems from time to time, yes I do complain about my job (ok all of the time!) and of course my DH can drive me up the wall but all in all I am happy.
While there were certainly happy moments in my life as a child I wouldnt call my childhood happy, I was married to a man that undermined my trust in myself and went on to break my heart. Not to mention the times that I just felt so insecure about everything I did and how I looked. Raising 4 children on my own was not easy, bloody hard at times but we all got through it, intact and still talking to one another!!
I believe I am who I am today because of the disappointments and hurts in my life, I have grown and become a stronger person. I battled my demons and I have found my peace, I have my wonderful children, my gorgeous grandchildren and a thoughtful and loving man - they are my life.
I am more in tune with nature and love living out in the bush, just to wander outside to sit on the verandah and watch the clouds go by is a joy! Nature has taught me patience and has shown me that the world around me is both precious and ever changing. No doubt life has more lessons for me to learn, but for now, for this moment in my life I can say honestly that I am happy.To all that might read this missive and are batling their own demons, I wish you all a safe and smooth journey my friends, as it often has been said, the road to finding your own identify can be long and hard, but I gotta tell you, it is just so worth it!! - Oxx
