I agree that the small photo is perfect here with your small elements. Resolution and small photo sizes are an issue with older photos. I do own Topaz Gigapixel AI and will often run my low resolution pics through it. Most of the time, I am pleased with the results.

Eva, this is simply perfect in every way. It starts with the perfect photo and taking it from there. Superb use of negative space and SO worthy of a Standing O!
