The Alzheimer's Foundation has chosen the dragonfly to represent their patients. In honor of my Dad and sister.
The dragonfly symbolizes change and maturity, self-realization, and understanding the deeper meaning of life. Its flight across water represents the act of going beyond whats on the surface and seeing the person still inside, under the disease. They can fly at speeds of 45,mph & in 6 different directions! The dragonfly lives in the moment. Its iridescence shows the true beauty of being one's self without inhibition. The life of an adult dragonfly is brief, powerful, unpredictable, and remarkably beautiful.
