Photo lightened and clipped to mask, blending mode set to luminosity. Silhouette added and papers clipped to various portions of it. Added elements and changed blending modes on most - I just played around with them until I liked the effect. Word art cut up and moved around, lastly added journaling.

Journaling: Freshening mom's room with new paint and changing the flooring shortly after she passed offered an unexpected and surprising sense of renewal.

WOW! This is fantastic. I feel like I've walked into the birds home. I love the quote. The flowers. The string is perfect. I can see the bird picking it up to bring home.

This is so beautiful and so touching, Amy. I like your take on renewal and your background and blending is so soft and gorgeously done. Your Mom's face peeking in shows she will always be there in her room and your life and the ray of light from the open door is so significant.
