Oscraps

This Thing
My recent purchase of a vintage manual typewriter quite unexpectedly brought back a flood of memories, so I used that as an opportunity to continue my recent trend of scrapping about myself. The journaling reads:

"I'm so, SOOOOO giddy over my newest indulgence! For the longest time, I've wanted a vintage manual typewriter to use for typing quotes and text for my art journals and it finally happened! A 1950s Royal, very similar to the kind I learned to type on back in the day when "typing" was a required class for girls, along with "Home Ec". The amount of pressure needed to strike the keys will take some getting used to after decades of computer and device keyboards — but man-oh-man, how I LOVE the sound of REAL typing! All my life I have loved anything with a keyboard, and I know exactly how that obsession came to be.

My Dad was career Air Force, much of that time in Personnel. I remember him bringing me to work with him — I must have been 6 or 7, so he would have been in his late 20s — and he asked me to stand on a chair he had placed behind his desk chair. He sat down, had me put my hands over his eyes so couldn't see, and typed "I love Vicki Jean". I was just mesmerized! I thought it had to be magic and I know that's where my love of all things with a keyboard began. He is close to 90 now, just moved into assisted living, and dementia is taking a firm hold ... so memories like this are increasingly precious."
This is fabulous! I love the photos and your awesome journaling. I have always loved keyboards too lol, typing was my favorite thing. And that font is one of my favorites too :)
