Jim Lamb’s lengthy background in the trucking and bus industry in the states brought the offer of working with the Afghanistan government and the trucking industry there.
They moved to Kabul, Afghanistan in January 1960.
Their house was surrounded by a high wall with guards at the entrance. They had many servants who did their jobs in their primitive manner.
Jim used a Jeep for work so Mary used a rickshaw to attend functions at the US embassy or visit many sights in and near Kabul with other ex-pat wives.
A common sight on the road outside their compound was camel and donkey caravans.
