Our grandson was born with some of his skull growth plates prematurely fused together. When he was three months old he had to have surgery on his skull to separate the bones so his brain would have room to grow properly. He had to wear a helmet for a year to protect his head. Our daughter contacted an artist that painted medical helmets for children. She painted his to look like a vintage aviator helmet. He always got lots of compliments on his adorable helmet!
